YWAC’s First Meeting

September 28, 2018

The Yale Women’s Athletic Council held its first meeting on September 26th in the Ray Tompkins House. At the meeting, Co-Presidents Lilla Felix ‘19 and Emma Lower ‘19 discussed plans for the upcoming year.

YWAC was created last year by Felix and Lower. Both had approached Coach Tompkins separately with the same idea. They were brought together in order to make their dreams of creating a space of empowerment for female athletes at Yale a reality.

Meetings last year were every two weeks. We had several guest speakers including a World Championship Triathlete and Mindfulness Meditation Expert Tracy George. In addition, several of the meetings were conducted among the group members and were used as an outlet to address issues such as nutrition, recovery and body image in sports.

This year, YWAC is planning many fun events that we hope you will attend. 2019 will mark the 50th year of women in sports at Yale and we are hoping to commemorate the event with an Athletics Gala. If you are interested in learning more about upcoming YWAC events/ information or how to get involved, email Lilla Felix or Emma Lower

We would LOVE to have you join us.
